Law & More respects your personal data and will ensure that the personal information that you provide to us will be treated as confidential. The following statement implements the obligation, laid down in the General Data Protection Regulations (AVG), to provide information to those concerned about the processing of their personal data by Law & More. This privacy statement answers the most important questions regarding the processing of personal data by Law & More.

Personal data

Personal data are data that tell something about a person or that can be associated with a person. Personal data that indirectly say something about someone, are also personal data. In this privacy statement, personal data is understood to mean all the data that Law & More processes in order to identify you.

Law & More processes personal data for the purposes of providing its services or personal data provided by the party concerned on his/her own initiative. These include, for example, contact details and other personal data that are necessary for the handling of your case, personal data that you have filled out on contact forms or web forms, data that you provide during (introductory) conversations, personal data that are available on public websites or personal data that can be obtained from public registers, such as the Land Registry and the Trade Register of the Chamber of Commerce. Law & More processes personal data in order to be able to offer services, improve the services provided and communicate with you personally as a data subject.

From whom does Law & More process personal data?

This privacy statement is applicable to all persons whose personal data is processed by Law & More. Law & More processes personal data of persons with whom it has, will have or has had an indirect or direct relationship. This includes the following persons:

  • (potential) clients of Law & More;
  • applicants;
  • people who show interest in the services of Law & More;
  • people who are connected to a company or organisation with which Law & More has, wants to have or has had a relationship;
  • visitors to the websites of Law & More;
  • all other persons who contact Law & More.

Purpose of processing personal data

Law & More processes your personal data for the following purposes:

  • Provision of legal services

If you have instructed us to provide legal services, we will ask you to share your contact details with us. Other personal data may also be necessary for the handling of your case, depending on the nature of the issue. Your personal data will also be used to bill you for services rendered. To the extent necessary to provide our services, we will provide your personal data to third parties.

  • Provision of information

Law & More records your data in its system and keeps these data in order to be able to provide you with information. This may be information that relates to your relationship with Law & More. If you do not (yet) have a relationship with Law & More you may request information by using the contact form on the website. To this end Law & More processes personal data in order to be able to contact you and provide you with the requested information.

  • Compliance with legal obligations

Law & More processes your personal data in order to comply with legal obligations. By virtue of the law and the rules of conduct that apply to lawyers, we are required to verify your identity by means of a valid form of identification.

  • Recruitment and selection

Law & More collects your personal data for the purpose of recruitment and selection. When you apply for a job with Law & More, your data will be stored in order to determine whether you will be invited for a job interview and to be able to contact you regarding your application.

  • Social media

Law & More uses various social media, namely Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. If you use the features on our websites relating to social media, we may obtain your personal data from the relevant social media channels.

Basis of the processing of personal data

Law & More processes your personal data on the basis of one or more of the following grounds:

  • Permission

Law & More may process personal data relating to you because you have consented to such processing. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time.

  • On the basis of an agreement (to be) concluded

When you instruct Law & More to provide legal services, we will process personal data if and to the extent that such processing is necessary for the performance of the instruction.

  • Legal Obligations

Your personal data are also processed in order to comply with legal obligations. Pursuant to the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act, lawyers are obliged to collect and record certain information. For example, the identity of clients must be verified.

  • Legitimate interest

Law & More will process your personal data if it has a legitimate interest in doing so and the processing will not constitute a disproportionate breach of your privacy.

Sharing personal data with third parties

Law & More will only share your personal data with third parties to the extent necessary to provide services in accordance with the above-mentioned purposes. This includes, for example, the conclusion of a contract, the provision of your personal data in connection with (legal) proceedings, correspondence with the other party or the engagement of another third party on behalf of and under the authority of Law & More, such as an IT supplier. In addition Law & More may supply personal data to a third party, such as a regulatory body or any other body that has been given public authority, in so far as there is a legal obligation to do so.

A processing agreement will be concluded with the third party that processes your personal data on behalf of and under the instructions of Law & More. This agreement will also oblige the third party to comply with the provisions of the AVG. Third parties that are engaged by Law & More and that offer services as data controllers are themselves responsible for the (further) processing of your personal data in order to ensure compliance with the AVG. Examples of such third parties are accountants and notaries.

Security of personal data

Law & More is committed to the security and protection of your personal data and, taking into account the state of the art, will implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to ensure a level of security appropriate to the risk involved. In the event that Law & More makes use of the services of third parties, Law & More will, in the context of the protection of personal data, make arrangements in a contract for the processing of the data to ensure that the security measures are appropriate.

Storage period

Law & More does not retain personal data for any longer than is necessary for the aforementioned purposes of data processing or as required by law and regulations. 

Privacy rights of data subjects

Under the new privacy legislation, you have certain rights when your personal data is processed:

  • Access

You have the right to ask which personal data Law & More processes and to view these data.

  • Correction or addition

You have the right to request that incorrect or incomplete personal data be corrected or completed.

  • Data erasure

You have the right to request that Law & More erase the personal data processed about you. Law & More will delete such personal data in the following cases:

  • if they are no longer necessary for the purpose for which the data was obtained;
  • If you withdraw your consent to the processing of the data and there is no other legal basis for data processing;
  • If you object to the data processing and there are no compelling grounds for further processing;
  • if the data have been processed unlawfully;
  • if the data must be deleted on the basis of a legal requirement.
  • Restriction of processing

You have the right to ask Law & More to restrict the processing of personal data if you believe that it is unnecessary for Law & More to process certain data relating to you.

  • Transferability of data

You have the right to obtain an overview of the data that Law & More processes about you and to transfer this data to another party.

  • Objection

You have the right to object, at any time, to the processing of your personal data by Law & More.

A request for access, correction or addition, deletion, restriction, transferability of data or revocation of previously granted consent can be submitted to Law & More via the following e-mail address info@lawandmore.nl. You will receive further information from us within four weeks of receipt of your request. There may be circumstances under which Law & More is unable to fully comply with your request as a data subject. These include, for example, the duty of confidentiality owed to lawyers and legal deadlines.
